La Sportiva Akasha and Lycan II are two of the four models currently available in Thailand. In fact, there are many models of trail running shoes from the La Sportiva brand. It could be said that if all models were available for sale in Thailand, it would be impossible to choose.

.

Last September, I picked up these two models to try out. So I would like to tell you about the characters of both models. And I'd like to preface this by saying that Akasha really surprised me.

.

I'll start telling the characters one model at a time, starting with the Akasha and then moving on to the Lycan II. At the end, I'll summarize and compare them again for you guys to see how each model is suitable for what kind of trail runner.

This model is pronounced ah-ka-cha. This model is one of the most popular models from the brand. The brand says it's a trail running shoe that has good cushioning support, a sticky sole, sharp and deep soles, and can run on all skin types... so I wanted to try it!

Appearance

Regarding appearance, for me, the colors really stand out. The shape looks sleek. You can say that they are a handsome couple. The material feels good to the touch and looks strong and durable.

Wear it for the first time before running.

When trying it at the store My feet feel very tight. Because the midfoot frame wraps around your foot, it feels very stable. The forefoot is considered normal for general trail running shoes, a little tapered, not too narrow and not wide... For me, I like trail shoes that have a bit of width. When running downhill, it's comfortable on the front of the foot, fingers don't get squeezed.

Go on a real trail run at Khao Phang, Chumphon Province.

It's the stadium in my hometown. When I practice on the trails, I come here to practice. There will be a floating stone path. and steep dirt roads There is a concrete path at the bottom... It rained the day I practiced. It can be said that it's perfect for trying out trail running shoes.

Softness when running

The thickness of the midsole at the front heel is 31mm and the forefoot is 25mm thick. For me, it is considered agile, not too thin, not too thick. Feeling good when running on concrete. I don't feel as harsh. They are more firm than soft. Running for 3 hours with this pair did not cause my feet to shake. For me, it's considered a pass if you find a trail field with a paved surface. Lots of concrete floors

The rubber material of the outsole is called FRIXION. There are many levels of stickiness divided into different colors. This Akasha model is red... The depth of the flower is 4.5mm.

After I actually tried running Let me tell you, I'm surprised by the stickiness level, 10 out of 10. I even gave the Akasha model a slogan: "More sticky than Vibram, this is Akasha."

Found a wet rock, it wasn't slippery at all! Wet paved and steep concrete paths It's not slippery at all! When encountering a steep, wet dirt road, it was very good at digging into the soil because the flowers were both deep and sharp! ... Flooring like this is very hard to find! My only regret is if the toebox was a little wider. Perfect!

Outsole durability

I would like to talk about this issue a bit because Used to run for about 35 kilometers, the soles began to wear somewhat...not as durable as Vibram soles, but compared to general trail shoe soles. Durability is average.

.

.

Drainage

Our house is hot and humid. We often encountered rain and went into the stream a lot. Drainage is also important. Otherwise, your feet will easily swell... In this Akasha model, water can drain out through the side of the shoe. Water doesn't get stuck. Great!

La Sportiva Lycan II

.

This model is a trail running shoe that the brand has designed for mid-distance and speed running. Didn't focus on support much. But the foot is a little wider than the Akasha model.

Appearance

Because I saw Akasha's handsomeness, this model was dropped. Let's be honest.

Wear it for the first time before running.

Gives a slightly more comfortable feeling on the front of the foot. This is because the Toebox model Lycan II does not have a TPU frame, so it has more flexibility in the fabric than the Akasha model... and because the mid-foot area has less TPU covering than the Akasha, it doesn't. It felt as tight. But it's not too loose. Because when we tighten the rope, it tightens normally. I think people with wide feet This model will be more suitable for the instep.

Softness when running

The thickness of the midsole at the front heel is 26mm and the forefoot is 20mm thick, which makes it feel a little hard. The sole is firm, not very soft. It feels clearly more agile than Akasha...when encountering concrete roads. Feels more vibration than the Akasha, but if compared to thick trail running shoes like this The sole is about as thick as this. The Lycan II model is considered more comfortable than that!

FRIXION, blue color... The depth of the flower is 6.5mm, called a very deep flower. Pecking in wet dirt on steep slopes, I think it works well. But you have to use a little weight to press. Because the flowers are not as sharp If you can dig into the ground, It's called a good island.

As for when encountering wet stones and wet roads, I was disappointed, it was slippery like a slippery road. You have to take it slow and be more careful when it rains.

Outsole durability

I think it's on par with Akasha.

Drainage

This one isn't as good as the Akasha because it's covered in the design of the shoe's cage. Water cannot drain out to the side. It must be drained from the top.

.

.

In closing, we conclude with the question: Who is Akasha and Lycan II suitable for?

La Sportiva model Akasha

The character is good support, can run far, the ground is very sticky, can go on any field.

  • Suitable for friends who like to run trails in the northern region. The hills are steep and it rains often.
  • Suitable for fields that encounter the entire road. The footpath for locals has a lot of rocks and wet soil.
  • Suitable for friends who are not addicted to very soft shoes. But I like the stickiness.

La Sportiva model Lycan II

The character is supportive, very agile, digs well into the ground, comfortable on the forefoot.

  • Suitable for friends who don't run very far, 40K is good and want to make some time.
  • Emphasis on being fast, focusing on climbing steep dirt paths.
  • I like the brand La Sportiva. Comfortable on the front and back of the foot.

That's it for the review of both trail running shoes. Hopefully the characters I have described will be enough to help you see the picture and help make a decision. If you have any additional questions or concerns, you can contact us via the shop's page or Line.
